A Syracuse man is under arrest after Watertown police alleged finding four bundles of heroin packaged for sale Monday evening in his rented room at Best Western Carriage House Inn, 300 Washington St.
Police said the heroin was found after officers responded to a report at 5:25 p.m. that marijuana was being smoked in the room, G-64.
Deon D. Whitehead, 20, was arraigned Tuesday in City Court on a felony charge of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and the violation of unlawful possession of marijuana. Judge Eugene R. Renzi set bail at $20,000, sending him to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building to await grand jury action.
His companion, Shataya Y. Kirkland, 23, Syracuse, was cited with unlawful possession of marijuana and was released with orders to appear in City Court.
