A city man is facing multiple counts of felony and misdemeanor criminal contempt following his actions against a woman, according to Watertown police.
Gary S. Dusharm, 42, of 642 Emerson St., Apt. 2, was in the 194 Cedar St. apartment of Christine S. Sinclair, 45, between 12:30 and 2:15 a.m., when he was arrested, police said. Within that time period, police allege he grabbed her and pulled her out of bed, causing her to fall to the floor and strike her head.
Just by being in the apartment, he defied stay-away terms of a City Court order of protection. The alleged offense became more serious, a felony, because of the physical attack and because he already has a conviction for misdemeanor criminal contempt in a prior incident involving Ms. Sinclair.
Mr. Dusharm was sentenced in September in Jefferson County Court to a jail term that was concluded on Oct. 12 for the criminal contempt conviction, and was under arrest again on Nov. 26, when he allegedly struck Ms. Sinclair in the face with a thrown beer can. He is facing charges of felony criminal contempt and harassment in that incident.
He awaited arraignment Thursday in City Court on the new charges.
