ALEXANDRIA BAY - Maintaining a wave of momentum for the Brian Wade Jr. Memorial Tournament on Friday and Saturday, the OFA Hockey team skated to its fifth straight win by posting a 6-0 victory over The Islanders in an NAC Division 2 matchup staged at the Alexandria Bay Community Arena on Wednesday.

The host Blue Devils will play in the faceoff game of the tournament on Friday at 6 p.m. hosting Saranac Lake and The Islanders will face McQuaid Jesuit in the nightcap.

On Saturday then Islanders and Saranac Lake will meet at 12:30 and OFA will meet McQuaid at 2:30 in the matchup tournament.

The 6-3-1 Devils netted a pair of shorthanded goals in the offensive support of David Prudhomme’s 20-save shutout to move to 6-1-1 in the NAC and move within one point of division leader St. Lawrence Central (7-1-0).

In other games of the night Norwood-Norfolk won a 2-1 D2 mathup over Malone, Massena nipped Salmon River 2-1 in D1 action and Canton took a 4-0 interdivisional win over Tupper Lake.

“Getting two shorthanded goals was really big. Tonight we came out flying and everyone played very hard,” said OFA Coach Jon Frederick.

“And it was great to see so many different people get involved in the scoring.”

The Devils struck for three goals in the first period starting with Jon Tayler converting from Joe Giglio 17 seconds into the game. Zach Barr netted a short-handed tally unassisted at 4:52 and Jake Garrison set up a Brandon Mullin marker just 1:28 later.

Tayler scored from Barr eight minutes into the second period and Mark Morrow connected unassisted at 12:55.

Garrison scored from Mullin to close out the scoring with a shorthanded tally at 1:25 of the third period.

James and Keams combined for 27 saves in the Islanders’ goal.

N-N 3, Malone 1: Zeb Brown scored the first two goals of the game at 5:33 and 8:33 and Troy Kovach connected in the third off Austin Cousineau’s third assist of the game for N-N.

Kelsey Head scored for Malone .

Brandon Richards stopped 31 shots for N-N (7-6, 5-4). Joey Brown had 27 saves for the Huskies (6-5-1, 3-4-1).

Massena 2, Salmon River 1: Zach Robert scored the game winning goal from Tyler Youngs and Grayson Phillips at 3:51 of the overtime. Young scored from Robert in the first period. Salmon River answered with goal by Nathan Smoke from Haylen Laffin-Stone.

Connor Paquin made 17 saves for Massena (8-5-1, 5-2-1). Aiden Comins stopped 26 shots for Salmon River (1-8-2, 0-5-2).

Canton 4, Tupper Lake 0: EJ Curtis opened scoring from Matt Mende at 3:14 of the first and Jay Proulx made it 2-0 from Nate Gibson and Tanner Sanderson at 11:46.In the second, Curtis produced his second goal from Mende and Gibson at 6:29 while Brandon Rodee finished scoring from Gage Emerson at 11:06,

Johnny Stone posted 18 saves for Canton (3-7-2, 1-2-2). Marcus Richer handled 38 shots for Tupper Lake (1-10-1, 0-8).
