Clark R. Freas, 88, of 24811 NYS Rt. 37, Watertown passed January 16, 2013 at his home where he was under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sat., Jan. 26 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Luisi officiating.
Born on November 10, 1924, in Nanticoke, PA, son of Clark M. and Louise Kaminski Freas, he graduated from Central High School in Philadelphia, PA in 1943.
He entered the US Navy on August 25, 1943 and served during WWII. He was honorably discharged in May of 1946, receiving the Pacific Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, and Philippine Liberation Medal.
He married Joyce Thomas on June 16, 1951 in Pa.
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1951 with a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Electric Storage Battery Co. in Philadelphia, PA from 1951 until 1960 as a developer of military batteries for the Navy. From 1960 until 1971 he worked for Philico Ford Co. in Lansdale, PA as an electronic engineer for product development. He then worked for Motorola from 1971 up until he retired in 1989 as a Product Engineer Manager. The couple moved to Watertown in 1990.
He enjoyed golfing, hunting and gardening. He was an active member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Watertown.
Among his survivors are his wife, Joyce T. Freas, a resident at the Country Manor Nursing and Rehab Center in Carthage; a son, C. Roy Freas; a daughter and son in law, Linda L. and Stephen C. Graham, Pitcarin, NY; a sister, Doris Marnie, Philadelphia, PA; two grandsons and their wives and four great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a brother, Carl Freas who died while serving in WWII.
