A Dexter man was arrested on drug charges early Saturday after being found passed out in the bathroom at the Nice N Easy on Route 11 in the town of Pamelia.

State police charged Charles W. Bennett, 37, of 16183 Foster Park Road, with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned before Brownville Town Justice Richard M. Parker and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.

Police said Mr. Bennett was unconscious from an apparent heroin overdose when they arrived at the convenience store about 11:30 p.m. Friday. He was taken by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment before his 3 a.m. Saturday arrest.
