LOWVILLE — The Lowville Academy and Central School Alumni and Friends Association recently made a $1,000 donation to the University of Connecticut’s Sandy Hook School Memorial Scholarship Fund.

“As an organization focused on promoting education, the LACS Alumni Association felt it was fitting to contribute to the fund as a way to both remember the victims of Sandy Hook while also helping to ensure that the survivors and their families are able to continue their education at the university level in the future, regardless of financial ability,” a release from the association said.

The fund was established following the Newtown, Conn., shootings to help pay college costs for siblings of those killed in the assault, dependents of adults who lost their lives and students now at the elementary school who may someday be accepted at the University of Connecticut.

Further donations may be sent to UConn Foundation, 2390 Alumni Drive, Unit 3206, Storrs, Conn. 06269-3206.
