A North Carolina man was jailed early Sunday after allegedly assaulting another man with a wood board and steel weightlifting curl bar at 135 N. Indiana Ave.

Ronnie Locklear, 42, Maxton, N.C., was charged by Watertown police with second-degree assault, second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned by part-time City Judge Catherine J. Palermo and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, with bail set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.

Mr. Locklear was accused of repeatedly hitting Gerald W. Locklear, Lumberton, N.C., with the board and bar.
