CROGHAN – James P. Walseman, 49, of 6960 Black Creek Road, Croghan, passed away on Sunday evening, January 20, 2013 at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral Mass will be said at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, Pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Calling hours are from 1 - 3 & 6 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. Contributions may be made to the James Walseman Memorial Fund, c/o Key Bank, 9760 Main Street, Croghan, NY 13327.

He is survived by his wife of 25years, Susan M.; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Patrick J. and his wife, Ashley B. Walseman of Croghan; Erick R. Walseman and Gavin L. Walseman, both at home; his mother, Ramona A. Walseman of Croghan; his brothers and sisters and their spouses; Beryl H. “Butch”, II and Becky Walseman of Carthage; Joseph L. and Yvonne Walseman of Croghan; Anne M. Walseman of Holland Patent; Michael T. and Cindy Walseman of Lowville; Larry J. Walseman of Carthage; Timothy H. Walseman of Utica; Terrance L. and Christie Walseman of Castorland; Michelle A. and Vern Fuller of Gouverneur; his father and mother-in-law, William R. and Marion H. Jones of Croghan; brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Beryl H. Walseman, Sr.

Jim was born on February 18, 1963 in Carthage, New York, a son of the late Beryl H. Walseman, Sr. and Ramona A. Roch Walseman. He attended Father Leo Memorial School in Croghan, and graduated from Beaver River Central School in 1981. On August 1, 1987, he married Susan M. Jones at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan. Jim worked on the family farm, and together with his wife, went into partnership with his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Cindy Walseman, operating the farm for many years.

Jim was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan. He was a member of the Long Pond Sno-Sled Club. Jim was an outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and spending time in the woods. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
