Robert F. Collins, 89, formerly of 221 Wealtha Ave., Watertown passed January 21, 2012 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where he had been a resident.
A funeral service will be Noon, Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas W. Wilson Pastor of the Smithville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Brookside Cemetery.
Calling hours will precede the service on Jan 23 from 10 a.m. till Noon at the funeral home.
Born on May 16, 1923 in Watertown, son of the late Norva A. and Arlie F. Ranney Collins, he attended school in Smithville.
Mr. Collins worked for his father as an electrician for twenty years in Smithville. He then went to work for the Jefferson County Adult Home where he was head of maintenance up until he retired. While working there he met his wife, Margaret Davis Gilbo, she was employed in the dietary department. The couple married on October 20, 1972. Mrs. Collins passed August 3, 2003.
Mr. Collins was a member of the Sackets Harbor Masonic Lodge and Charter Member of the Smithville Fire Department in 1946.
Among his survivors are two sons and a daughter in law, Robert E. Collins, Coldwater, MI, Jeffrey N. and Donna J. Collins, Baldwinsville; a daughter and son in law, Pamela R. and Jeffrey Coen, Atwood, MI; a stepdaughter and her husband, Barbara A. and James E. Marquette, Dexter; three sisters, Frances Green, Smithville, Dorothy Blodgett, NC, Margaret LaFontaine, Smithville; 5 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 6 great step grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
A sister, Helen Dunaway died before him.
