SUNY Potsdam, Clarkson men fall to hot-shooting league rivals


POTSDAM - The SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University men’s basketball teams fell short to some hot-shooting league rivals on Tuesday.


SUNY Plattsburgh (11-5, 7-2 SUNYAC) used a second half explosion to defeat the SUNY Potsdam men’s basketball team (7-9, 3-6), 85-63, at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium. Senior guard Mark Lake, Jr. had a game-high 17 points, but it wasn’t enough as four Cardinals finished with double-digits.

The Cardinals shot 47.1 percent from the floor, while Potsdam hit 36.7 percent of its shots. Perez finished with 16 points for Plattsburgh, while sophomore guards Jordan Moody and Shamoy McIntosh scored 13 and 12, respectively. Freshman guard Edward Correa (Bronx, N.Y.) rounded out the bunch with 11 points.

Josh Lambert and Curtis Pierce each had 10 points for the Bears.

Potsdam looks to rebound on Friday as the Bears travel to Fredonia for an 8 p.m. battle with the Blue Devils.


Skidmore College shot 60.9 percent from the field in the second half and went on to defeat the Clarkson men’s basketball team 65-58 in a Liberty League game in Saratoga Springs.

The Thoroughbreds (12-5 overall, 6-2 conference) led 28-26 at halftime, but built on the lead in the second half, outscoring Clarkson 37-32.

Connor Merrill led Skidmore with 19 points. Aldin Medunjanin and Sakhile Sithole both added 14 points.

John Coleman led Clarkson (12-5, 4-4) with 24 points. Marques Charlton tallied 15 points and Jerry Coleman tossed in 13 for Clarkson which returns to action next Tuesday on the road against North Country Liberty League rival St. Lawrence University at 8 p.m.
