Clarkson University’s Reh Center receives $25,000 grant

POTSDAM — Clarkson University recently received a $25,000 grant from M&T Bank to support small business and community development through programs and services provided by the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship.

Since 2004, the center has provided guidance and training to more than 800 local businesses through its introductory course, My Small Business 101. The course is a four-part business strategy series designed to help entrepreneurs and microbusiness operators succeed.

Since its inception, the My Small Business 101 series has achieved an 85 percent two- and five-year business survival rate, compared with a 45 percent survival rate, nationally.

The next My Small Business 101 course will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 19, Feb. 26, March 5 and March 12 in the Potsdam Public Library’s Community Room.

A resource facility located in the Clarkson University School of Business and named for principal donor and 1962 Clarkson alumnus David D. Reh, the Reh Center for Entrepreneurship builds on the university’s nationally recognized expertise in entrepreneurial education and long-standing commitment to boost regional economies through small business development.
