Nelson B. VanDusen, 65, of 17875 County Rt. 75, Sackets Harbor, passed January 22, 2013 at the Samaritan Medical Center.
Calling hours will be 4-8 p.m. Thurs., Jan 24 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home.
A prayer service will be 10 a.m., Fri., Jan 25 at the funeral home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., at the United Presbyterian Church in Sackets Harbor.
Burial with military honors will be in Lakeside Cemetery in the spring.
Born on January 8, 1948 in Watertown, NY, son of Leon B. and Genevieve M. Kubinski VanDusen, he attended Watertown High School.
He entered the Air Force in 1967 and served in Bitsburg, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
Mr. VanDusen then went to work at NY AirBrake in 1973 and retired from Quality Control in June of 2011.
He married Mary Lou Powell on May 22, 2004 at the United Presbyterian Church in Sackets Harbor. She currently works in the lab at the Samaritan Medical Center.
He loved spending time with his family and spending time on the water, sailing and boating.
Among his survivors are his wife, Mary Lou VanDusen, Sackets Harbor; a daughter, Julianne VanDusen, Adams, NY; three sons and two daughters in law, James and Alice VanDusen, Liverpool, Eric and Shannon VanDusen, Clay, NY, Brian VanDusen and his fiancÚ Danielle Grandjean, Adams, NY; two sisters and their husbands, Suzanna and John Sawyer, Chaumont, Mary and Bernard Buckingham, Lowville; two brothers and their wives, James and Linda VanDusen, Watertown, Edmund and Carol VanDusen, Adams; nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews.
