OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg Public Library’s mission to achieve financial stability has been warmed recently by unexpected generosity.

The library recently received a pair of $5,000 donations, according to Director Wayne L. Miller.

He declined to identify the benefactors at their request.

Time won’t be wasted in figuring out what to do with the money. The library’s $582,712 budget for 2013 has a city contribution of $532,712, which is $13,000 less than requested, and no allocation from St. Lawrence County.

“We will use these large and the many small donations given for magazine and newspaper subscriptions, new fiction books, ebooks and movies,” he said. “To avoid reducing staffing and hours, we may have to use some donations to cover basic operational costs that exceed the 2013 city allocation.”
