Josephine Peschell


Josephine Robbins Peschell,, formerly of Bloomfield, New Jersey , and Toms River, New Jersey, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012. She was living in Norcross, Georgia, at the Morning Star Assisted living facility. She was 91 years old.

She was born on July 8, 1921 in Newark, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Basil and Julia Kade.

Josephine grew up in Newark and graduated from Newark Central Highschool. After graduation she attended secretarial school.

Following her graduation from secretarial school she met and married Roy I. Robbins. They married on October 11,1941 at Brookdale Baptist Church, Bloomfield, New Jersey with the Reverend Charles W. Anderson officiating. They were married for 35 years. Roy predeceased her in 1976 at the age of 56. Roy was a WW II Navy veteran and owned his own home improvement business.

Josephine worked as an executive secretary for Lummus Engineering firm in Bloomfield from 1975 to 1984.

For many years Josephine enjoyed being a stay at home Mom. One of her favorite hobbies was sewing for her family. She was a long time member of Brookdale Baptist Church in Bloomfield. While there she taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school and helped in the church nursery. She and her husband, Roy, frequently entertained missionaries in their home.

In 1985 Josephine moved to Watertown, New York for one year before returning to New Jersey. She then moved to Toms River, New Jersey where she met and married her husband Paul W. Peschell. They were married at the First Baptist Church of Toms River, in November of 1986, with the Reverend John Strain officiating. They were married until 2009 when Paul predeceased her at the age of 101. Josephine and Paul also enjoyed entertaining missionaries in their home.

Josephine is survived by her two daughters and their husbands and one son and his wife; Joyce and Robert Orchard, Duluth, Georgia, and Jill and Charles Commeret, Watertown, New York, and Paul and Nancy Robbins of Palm Harbor, Florida. She also has five grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews whom she faithfully kept in contact with.
