CANTON – St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce has extended an invitation to Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to attend the St. Lawrence River Showdown, Bassmasters Elite Series Tournament, from Aug. 8 to 11.

“Your State of the State message spoke of invigorating the regional economy, of strengthening and revitalizing upstate, of expanding opportunities for all of New York,” Chamber Executive Director Patricia L. McKeown said in a letter addressed to Mr. Cuomo. “We here in St. Lawrence County will welcome your visit during the Bassmasters Elite to see just what we have to offer.”

The tournament is expected to have up to a $2 million impact on the St. Lawrence County economy.

The Chamber said in an announcement Wednesday that the governors office has said no commitment will be made until at least mid-July.
