Keith D. Doxtater, 27, who was found dead Wednesday morning behind the Last Call Bar and Grill, Evans Mills, was not the victim of an assault, according to the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department.
In an autopsy performed Thursday afternoon by Dr. Samuel A. Livingstone, Jefferson County medical examiner, Mr. Doxtaters death was determined caused by hypothermia, the department disclosed in a press release Thursday evening.
No other details were provided, as the sheriffs office is continuing the investigation into the factors that may have contributed to the death, Detective David J. Pustizzi said in the press release. When asked Friday morning if assault may have been a contributing factor, he gave a one word reply: No.
He declined further comment. The department said Wednesday there was no preliminary evidence of foul play.
Mr. Doxtater was a super stock champion at the Evans Mills Speedway.
