Potsdam girls hockey team blanks Salmon River

POTSDAM - The Potsdam Central girls hockey team completed an undefeated Section 10 regular season with an 8-1 win over Salmon River on Friday at Pine Street Arena.

Kalie Grant scored the first three goals of the game and finished with four goals and an assist as the Lady Sandstoners built a 4-0 lead in the first period then doubled it with four more unanswered goals in the second before the Lady Shamrocks broke through for their only goal late in the middle frame.

Ally Miller generated a goal and three assists. Jenny Tardelli tallied a goal and assist while Jayden Young and Peyton Warden struck for the other Potsdam goals while Sierra Gagnon and Megan Stevenson each fashioned a pair of assists and Kady Hart logged a solo helper.

Amber Thomas netted the lone Salmon River goal off assists from Mikayla Francis-Thomas and Victoria Thompson.

The trio of Allie Compeau (2 saves), Sidney Molnar (9 saves) and Kelsie Rathbun (7 saves) combined to work the Potsdam crease while Abby Grant turned aside 28 of the shots she faced for the Lady Shamrocks, who are slated to host St. Lawrence Central in their regular season finale on Monday at 5 p.m.

The Lady Sandstoners, now 15-2 overall, closed out their regular season this afternoon at 1 p.m. against Ithaca at Pine Street Arena.
