DANBURY, Conn. Adam McAllister scored twice and handed out three assists and Matt Anthony stopped 63 shots as the Thousand Islands Privateers beat the Danbury Whalers, 5-1, in a Federal Hockey League matchup Saturday night at the Danbury Ice Arena.
Peter Campbell netted two goals and dished out a pair of assists for Thousand Islands (18-20), which used three power-play goals in the third period to put the game out of reach. Chase Tippin also had two assists, while Kris McCarthy also scored for the Privateers.
Cody Ayers had a power-play tally for Danbury (19-17). Mike Brown made 24 saves for the Whalers.
Thousand Islands avenged a 4-2 loss to Danbury on Friday night.
The win puts the Privateers four points behind the Whalers for second place. Danbury has two games in hand on Thousand Islands.
The same two teams face each other today at 5:05 p.m. at the Danbury Ice Arena. Thousand Islands plays its next home game against the league-leading Dayton Demonz at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday at the Watertown Municipal Ice Arena.
