FORT DRUM Post officials are reporting that they may receive help from the Armys Installation Management Command to keep its Memorial Child Development Center open.
The post said Tuesday afternoon on its Facebook page that an effort was under way from the command to allocate resources to avoid the centers closure, scheduled for Feb. 8.
The closure of the clinic, announced Thursday, was linked to a directive from the Department of Defense to freeze civilian hiring. The post has 59 unfilled child care positions.
About 48 spots at the center, which provides hourly care, were expected to be lost if the closure took place.
