BOONVILLE – Emily Ann Adams, 78, of Lansing Place died Sunday evening January 27, 2013, with her loving family at her side, at the Lewis County General Hospital where she was a patient since December. Emily was formerly of the Moose River Road, Port Leyden.
Born in Lyonsdale on December 27, 1934, a daughter of the late Lloyd E. and Florence Christina Merry Mooney, Sr., Emily graudated from Port Leyden High School. On November 24, 1951, she married Joseph L. Egelston at the First Congregational Church, Port Leyden with Rev. Buell officiating. Mr. Egelston died on January 23, 1999.
On June 2, 2000, she married Gerald N. Jerry Adams, Sr. at the Russian Orthodox Church on the Milkhouse Road. The couple resided in Boonville and Jerry died on December 11, 2006.
Mrs. Adams was a domestic for many years in the Old Forge area and also worked at the Sunset Nursing Home. She was an avid card player and enjoyed reading but most of all loved to spend time with her family and her special little dog Rocky.
Surviving are three daughters, Valerie and Carl Emerson, Port Leyden; Laurie Zeigler, Boonville and Sandra Egelston, Boonville; son-in-law Daniel Riley, Martinsburg; brothers Larry Mooney, Boonville and Rodney and Cecelia Mooney, Adams; sisters Sharon Baker and companion Willis Croneiser, Boonville and Elaine and Roman Gallo, Surf City, NC; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her daughter Shelly R. Riley who died January 8, 2010 and brother Lloyd Eugene Mooney, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013, at the Sundquist Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with retired minister, Rev. Bruce W. Chapman officiating. Spring burial will be in the Port Leyden Cemetery.
Calling hours for family and friends will be on Wednesday, January 30th from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials in Mrs. Adams name may be made to the Boonville Ambulance Fund, Boonville, NY 13309.
