Rita G. Rombach, 70, of Boylston, passed away Sunday, January 27 at home. Rita was born June 27, 1942 in Watertown, daughter of the late Desmond & Pauline Plato Carpenter & Alonzo Carner, her step-father. Her elementary education was in a one room school in the Town of Worth. She graduated from Sandy Creek High School in 1960 and then from Bowling Green University in Ohio. She married Phillip D. Rombach on June 27, 1971 at her parents home in Boylston. She did research work for College Blue Book, and then was a processer for an insurance company in Syracuse. Rita was an Assessor for the Town of Boylston for 18 years, and part of that time was sole assessor. For the last ten years prior to retiring in 2007, she kept Boylston at 100% evaluation.
She was a member of Half-Shire Historical Society of which she served on the Board of Directors representing the Town of Boylston and was a volunteer worker for the History Center at the Sandy Creek Town Hall, on which she worked on the Sandy Creek-Boylston Farm Book.
Survived by her husband, Phillip D. Rombach; one sister, Patricia Eberle of Camillus; a niece, Jennifer Boltwood of Camillus; she was predeceased by a nephew, David Boltwood.
