Jamie Zaleski scored in the ninth round of the shootout to complete a 5-4 comeback win over the Danbury Whalers in a Federal Hockey League game at the Watertown Municipal Ice Arena on Friday night.
Thousand Islands (19-22) trailed 4-1 at the end of two periods before Kevin Morrison scored twice and Adam McAllister scored with 35 seconds left in regulation with an extra attacker. Zaleskis score in the shootout enabled Thousand Islands win 2-1.
Brett DiClementi provided a goal and an assist for the Privateers, while goalie Matt Anthony made 37 saves.
Mike Atkinson netted a pair of goals for Danbury (20-18).
Thousand Islands hosts the last-place New York Bluefins tonight at 7:35.
