CANTON - Canton’s High School Girls Ice Hockey team has the honor of hosting the New York State High School Girls Ice Hockey Final Four. The ‘Rise to the Top” tournament will take place on Friday and Saturday Feb. 8-9.

The team is a merged team with students from Ogdensburg, Morristown, and Madrid Waddington. Kelli Couglar, Samantha and Mary Kait Mace, Liz Collins, Mirna Husinec, McKaylee Boak, Mollie Curtis, Laura Wells, Ellie Schonberg, Angelina Vecchio, Morgan Eggleston, Serrena Cline, Janet Beaudin, and Elizabeth Burke are form the Canton contingent.

Joining the Canton girls from OFA are Nicki Holmes, Mackenzie Comeau, Natalie Giglio and Kiersten Morrow. Lizabeth and Margaret Troiano are from Morristown and Blake Orosz, Lauren Orosz and Taylor Marcellus are from Madrid Waddington. They are happy to be hosting the tournament and pleased to showcase Canton.

The team is raising funds to sponsor the event. There will be 50-50 raffles at each game as well as basket raffles and a lottery tree with tickets drawn at the end of the event on Saturday. College athletic teams such as the SLU Men’s and Women’s hockey teams are also generously donating items to be raffled.

Anyone who would like to donate a basket, gift certificate or money for this event, please contact Anita Francis, Email: afrancis@ccsdk12.org 386-8561 ext 370 or any team player or parent. We do accept cash donations or checks payable to CCS Girls’ Hockey Program.

The team is looking for donations of: gift basket or raffle items, items for player bags, including Gatorade, granola bars, and snacks, oranges and water for locker rooms

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Friday Feb. 8th: Potsdam (Section 10) vs. Alexandria (Section 3) at 6 p.m., Section 6 (Kenmore or Williamsville vs. Beekmantown (Section 7) at 8 p.m.

Sat. Feb. 9th: Championship game at noon.

The public is invited to stop by to support the teams, watch some hockey and buy some tickets even if they can’t stay for the hockey games.
