CANTON - Looking for something unique, creative, and fun for your children over winter break? Children aged 7-12 are invited to TAUNYs first ever Winter Break Arts Camp.
Held from 1 - 4:30 p.m. Feb. 19-21 at The TAUNY Center in Canton, the camp will feature a number of crafts and activities traditionally practiced during a north country winter. Activities will include wax-resist fabric dying using local, natural plant dyes; soap carving; storytelling; traditional social dancing with live fiddle accompaniment, and more. A snack will be provided.
Instructors include contra dance caller and musician Beth Robinson, fiddler Jacob Brillhart, woodcarver Ron Riley, storyteller and NCPR host Todd Moe, and local farmer and artist Flip Filippi.
Cost of the camp is $45 per child ($35 for TAUNY Friends) for the three-day session and includes all materials. This reduced cost is made possible by a grant from the Adirondack Community TrustAdirondack for Kids community foundation.
