ADAMS — No cause has been determined for a weekend fire on Grange Avenue Saturday that damaged two homes.

Detective Benjamin K. Timerman of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department said that an investigation into the fire was ongoing.

A fundraiser for families affected by fires has raised several thousand dollars’ worth of clothing and personal items from the community, according to its organizer.

Keith H. Schillinger, owner of Hometown Pizzeria and Hotel Adams and fundraiser organizer, said the effort also has raised about $100.

He said he was looking to start a new organization with Hearthstone Ministries to help families in need during similar situations.
