Christopher M. Perciful, 31, of 548 Mill St., was charged Monday by Watertown police with third-degree grand larceny in connection with the theft of a car he reportedly wrecked Jan. 30 while a state trooper was attempting to halt him.
Mr. Perciful has been jailed at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building since Jan. 30, when state police arrested him on charges of driving while intoxicated, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
City police are charging him in the theft of a 2009 Chevrolet Impala owned by Jennie M. Sampson, Dexter, early that morning at Comfort Inn, 110 Commerce Park Drive. State police said he wrecked the car when he struck a house at 26141 Route 37 at 4:35 a.m. while attempting to get away from the trooper.
