CANTON - The SUNY Canton Mens Hockey Team will host a special Jules of Life Roos Hockey Day on Saturday as the Skating Roos host Franklin Pierce at 3 p.m.
Special guests of the day will be Zach Hamilton, Oliver White, Jacob Marcellus, Travis Gilbert and Kristen Hays, and their families, who are currently fighting serious illnesses. The five youngsters and their families are being assisted in their fight by the Jules of Life Foundation.
Zach Hamilton and Travis Gilbert are throwing out the opening puck and the team is going to have the other three youngsters announced and join them on the ice.
The team has special things planned for Zach, Oliver, Jacob, Travis and Kristen with them after the game as well as a tour of the locker room. They want them to feel special, said a Jules of Life spokesperson.
The SUNY Canton hockey team also put together a poster and did a great job with the help of SUNY Canton Sports Information Director Matt Metcalf.
The SUNY Canton team and the Jules of Life Foundation is inviting the public to come and enjoy the game help raise money for the Jules of Life Foundation and the battle against pediatric cancer. The admission fee is $3 and children under 12 are admitted free. During the day special fund-raising events will be held: big wheel races, raffles, 50/50 drawings and chuck-a-puck which will generate proceeds for Jules of Life
The Jules of Life Foundation was founded in Lisbon with the mission of helping children pediatric cancer in St. Lawrence County, and their families, through inspirational events and financial support.
