ROCHESTER - St. Lawrences Ella Martin and Divya Biswal were named the top performers as the Saints defended their Liberty League womens title at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Martin, a freshman, won the mile and the 5,000 meters, and Biswal won the 60 hurdles, long jump, triple jump and contributed to the winning 800 relay. Hannah Kinsey won the 60 and 200 and anchored the 800 relay for the Saints. Other Saints winners were Carly Stine (400), Kylie Morris (high jump) and Taylor Washington (pole vault).
SLU defeated runner-up RIT 201-132.5.
The Saints men placed second behind RIT (209-136). Spencer Patterson won the 800 and mile to win top track performer meet honors.
SLUs trio of Ogdensburg products also claimed Liberty League titles in Nick Crawford (400), Jake Fredericks (60 hurdles) and Andy Fisher (200).
Clarkson 3 - Union 2
SCHENECTADY Vanessa Gagnon scored with 13 seconds left in regulation as the Clarkson womens hockey team rallied to defeat Union College, 3-2, in an ECAC Hockey game Saturday.
Danielle Skirrow tied the game at two for the Golden Knights (23-7 overall, 15-3 ECAC) at 11 minutes, 15 seconds of the third period. Clarkson also received a power-play goal from Erin Ambrose.
Jessica Kaminsky and Kelly McGrath scored for the Dutchwomen (7-20-3, 0-15-3).
ST. LAWRENCE 1, RENSSELAER 1 (OT)
Kelly Sabatine tied the game 3:17 into the third period to help the Saints salvage an ECAC Hockey tie with the Engineers in Troy.
Carmen MacDonald stopped 25 shots for St. Lawrence (16-11-3, 11-5-2).
Alexa Gruschow scored a shorthanded goal for Rensselaer (9-17-4, 7-9-2).
SUNY POTSDAM 4, SUNY GENESEO 3 (OT)
Kenny Simon scored 40 seconds into overtime to give the Bears a second straight overtime win in SUNYAC play in Massena.Shane Talarico stopped 24 shots for SUNY Potsdam (8-14-1, 5-9).
Ryan Bulach scored both goals in the third period for the Ice Knights (15-8-1, 10-4-1), including the game-tying goal with 1:44 left in regulation.
ST. LAWRENCE 63, UNION 53
Kara McDuffee led the Saints with 19 points and 12 rebounds as they beat the Dutchwomen in a Liberty League game at Canton.
Kelly Legg added 18 points for SLU (17-6, 11-3), which used a 13-1 run in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Kelsey McDonald paced Union (13-9, 8-6) with 13 points.
RENSSELAER 81, CLARKSON 66
Sarah Wetmores game-high 32 points helped the Engineers down the Golden Knights for a Liberty League win in Potsdam.
Amanda Lynch chipped in with 14 points and eight rebounds for Rensselaer (12-10, 6-7).
Ashley Loggins registered a double-double of 24 points and 14 points for Clarkson (3-18, 1-12), while Leighann Tomita added 21.
SUNY BROCKPORT 62, SUNY POTSDAM 57
Phoebe Byrnes collected 26 points as the Golden Eagles outlasted the Bears for the SUNYAC victory in Potsdam.
Alexandra Marshall contributed 12 points for SUNY Brockport (7-16, 4-12).
Katy Briedis led SUNY Potsdam (1-21, 0-15) with 18 points.
RENSSELAER 82, CLARKSON 79 (OT)
Jamie Zajac scored 25 points as the Engineers escaped with their second straight Liberty League overtime win in Potsdam. Brendan Farley added 15 points for Rensselaer (13-9, 8-5).
Marques Charlton had 19 points for Clarkson (15-7, 7-6), which missed two jumpers to tie the game in the final seconds.
UNION 80, ST. LAWRENCE 73
Keith Calliess 22 points gave the Dutchmen a Liberty League win over the Saints in Canton.
Terell Winney also had 18 points for Union (19-4, 11-3).
Janpeter Brase generated 20 points to lead St. Lawrence (9-14, 7-7).
SUNY BROCKPORT 73, SUNY POTSDAM 60
John Ivy poured in 20 points as the Golden Eagles defeated the Bears in SUNYAC play at Potsdam.
Matt Lee netted 18 points and nine rebounds for SUNY Brockport (14-9, 9-7).
Curtis Pierce was the games high scorer with 24 points for SUNY Potsdam (9-13, 6-9).
