OFA Boys Basketball Coach Mark Henry couldn’t have asked for a better basketball team for the 2012-13 season.

On Saturday, the Blue Devils wrapped up a Central Division title sharing the division with Malone at 13-1 with a commanding 67-42 win on Senior Night against Canton Central.

“This team is the most unselfish team of 12 athletes that I’ve ever coached. They share the ball, play as a single unit, they are great students and most of all stay out of trouble. If coaching was like this all of the time, I would coach another 40 years,” said Henry before honoring five seniors in Tyler Knowlton, Pat Cosmo, Alex Farrell and Cavan and Breton LaRose.

Katie Ellard, Bill Vielhauer, Ashley LaSiege, Brena Carter, Emily Switzer, Jamie Conant, Sarah Barr, and Victoria Peabody also were honored as Senior Cheerleaders by coach Jackie Pinkerton.

Canton did everything right for the first eight minutes of the game after winning the tip, scoring the first basket and being tied at 14-14 after one quarter.

Eddie Bortnick hit two first quarter threes and Bryant Wentworth logged four big points for the Bears early but OFA outscored Canton 21-10 in the second keyed by 10 from Kinnon LaRose and nine from Breton LaRose for a 35-24 halftime lead. Colin Ross scored all seven of his points in the third where the 17-1 Devils took charge 54-42.

“We started slow but got things together in the second and third quarter. I’m just so glad we got Cavan (LaRose) back and he was able play,” said Henry.
