Motorists accused of DWI


The following were charged with driving while intoxicated and related offenses:

nCassandra N. Gorczyca, 20, of 648 Adelaide St., Carthage, faces charges of aggravated DWI, making an unsafe lane change and unlawful possession of marijuana as a result of her arrest by Watertown police at 1:25 a.m. Feb. 2 in the 300 block of Prospect Street. She tested at 0.19 percent blood alcohol content, police said. A BAC of 0.08 percent or more is considered proof of intoxication under state law. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

n John R. Blakeslee, 30, of 223 Commercial St., Theresa, also was charged by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies at 2:20 a.m. Monday on Interstate 81 in the town of Watertown with felony aggravated unlicensed operation, making an unsafe lane change and consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle.

His BAC was listed as 0.13 percent. The unlicensed-operation charge is a felony because he was convicted of driving while ability impaired by alcohol in August in Theresa Town Court, deputies reported.

n Jared W. Flath, 20, of 18762 Star School House Road, Dexter, was charged by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies at 12:08 a.m. Feb. 2 with aggravated DWI near his home. His BAC was listed as 0.18 percent. He also was charged with speeding, driving across a hazard marking and failure to keep right.

n Jeffrey D. Durand, 55, of 50073 Smith Lane, Redwood, was charged by state police with aggravated DWI and failure to use a designated lane at 3:10 p.m. Wednesday on Route 12 in the town of Alexandria. Police said he tested at 0.23 percent BAC.

n Scott Glenn, 31, Croghan, was charged at 12:23 a.m. Feb. 3 on Route 126 in the town of New Bremen by Lewis County sheriff’s deputies. His BAC was listed as 0.16 percent. He also was cited with failure to keep right.

n Robert L. Gonio, 41, Liverpool, was arrested by state police at 5:10 p.m. Monday on Cottage Hill Road in the town of Theresa. Police listed his test reading as 0.15 percent BAC.

n John K. French, 44, Canton, was charged by state police at 3:01 p.m. Monday in connection with an incident in which he allegedly drove off the road and struck a utility pole at 8:19 p.m. Jan. 21 on County Route 31 in the town of Madrid. He also was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, failure to keep right and imprudent speed. Mr. French, who is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel, was found with hashish in the vehicle, troopers said. His BAC was not available.

n Jason L. Fisher, 38, Heuvelton, was charged Thursday by St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies. Mr. Fisher is accused of losing control of his car Feb. 2 on County Route 15, Heuvelton, and crashing through a fence. There were no injuries. His BAC was listed at 0.12 percent.

n Ernest G. Turnbull, 42, of 428 Pink School Road, Canton, was charged with aggravated DWI and leaving the scene of an accident following a crash late Wednesday or early Thursday off Route 58 in the town of Fowler. St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies said Mr. Turnbull struck the wall of a commercial building and drove to a private home, where a resident called to complain of an intoxicated person knocking on the door.

He was arrested at 12:58 a.m. Thursday. His BAC was listed as 0.20 percent.

n Jaqulyn D. Shorter, 22, of Madera, Calif., was charged by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies with aggravated DWI at 11:42 p.m. Friday in the vicinity of Park Drive in Watertown following a traffic stop. She also was charged with failure to keep right. Her BAC was not available.

n Chad W. Amo, 33, of 52 Grove St., Massena also was charged with failure to keep right by Massena village police at 2:23 a.m. Saturday. Mr. Amo was stopped on Main Street for allegedly failing to keep right. His BAC was not available.

n Robert H. Scott, 43, of 19 County Road 57, Stockholm, was charged by state police at 9:44 p.m. Friday.

Mr. Scott was stopped on Route 11 in Potsdam for failure to signal and failure to keep right, police said. Troopers said he had a BAC of 0.17 percent.
