SYRACUSE The South Jefferson wrestling team added another accolade to its perfect season, and Indian River senior Derrick Gray highlighted 11 Frontier League wrestlers that claimed a Section 3 championship on Saturday at the SRC Arena.
The Spartans claimed the Section 3 Division II team title with a score of 138.5, placing ahead of Phoenix (100.5) and Holland Patent (93.5). It is the programs third sectional title. They previously took first in 2005 and 1998.
They were led by individual champions Daniel Smith (170 pounds) and Jon Crast (132), who each claimed their first individual title.

Gray captured his fifth straight individual title by pinning New Hartfords Sean Mcenna in the 138-pound Division I final.
Gray will be joined at states by teammate Sonny McPherson, who claimed his first title at 170.

General Browns Corey Gaffney beat Copenhagens Scott Hamblin with a 5-3 decision for the Division II 220 title.
