HERRINGS — The village Board of Trustees adopted a revised code of ethics and set job descriptions for board members and village employees during its Feb. 4 meeting.

Included in the job descriptions were duties for the village’s part-time Department of Public Works employee. The responsibilities of the mayor, two trustees and clerk also were outlined.

The revised code of ethics added items such as conflict-of-interest matters and the penalties for misuse of municipal resources. The nine-page document brings the policy “up to date with today’s laws,” Trustee Lance D. Micek said.

The village board also decided to form a board of ethics to ensure the policy is followed. The ethics board will include a trustee and two community members.

The Board of Trustees is finalizing a procurement policy that will require a public referendum for purchases of $5,000 or more.

In other business, the board approved brake repair for the village plow truck in the amount of $450 plus the cost of lines.
