LOWVILLE- Catherine A. Kaye Sweet, 89, formerly of Brookside Senior Living Community, died Saturday morning, February 9, 2013 at the Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility, where she has resided since March, 2011.
A funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at St. Peters Catholic Church, Lowville with Rev. Christopher Carrara, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling hours. She will be buried beside her husband, Harry R. Sweet in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peters Catholic Church, 5457 Shady Ave., Lowville, NY 13367.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Thomas and Linda Sweet of Redfield, Gerald and Bobbie Sweet of Zephyrhills, FL, Cynthia and Anthony Andre of Brantingham, Linda Ugis of Arlington, VA; a brother, Gerald Gardner of Nevada; a sister, Elizabeth Sauve of Jensen Beach, FL; ten grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Sweet, who died on January 1, 1998; three brothers, William, Peter, and James Gardner; and three sisters, Margaret Wilson, Ann Brothers, and Dorothy Gardner.
Catherine was born on December 20, 1923 in Massena, NY, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Badur Gardner. On March 4, 1943, she married Harry R. Sweet. She worked for Marine Midland Bank in Massena until moving to Florida in 1978.
Catherine was a communicant of St. Peters Catholic Church, Lowville.
