ADAMS The South Jefferson Central School Districts Board of Education set its maximum property tax levy increase at 3.7 percent for its upcoming budget.
District Business Administrator Joseph J. Eberle said the total was reached through a combination of the formula from the state that gives some leeway from the 2 percent cap increase, along with about $66,000 in levy increases the district did not call for in the previous years budget that carried over.
Mr. Eberle estimated that the districts tax levy increase would be close to the upper limit for its 2013-14 budget. The levy cap increase was approved unanimously at the boards meeting Monday night.
