ALEXANDRIA BAY Rachael Calhoun scored 17 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to help lead the sixth-seeded Alexandria girls basketball team over No. 11 Stockbridge Valley, 58-33, in a Section 3 Class D first-round game on Friday night.
Lorraine Beard finished with 17 points and seven rebounds for Alexandria (10-9), which plays at No. 3 Copenhagen in Tuesdays quarterfinal at 6:30 p.m.
Olivia Marshall had 14 points for Stockbridge Valley (6-12).
BISHOP GRIMES 60, GENERAL BROWN 48
Jordan Vaught scored a season-high 22 points, including five 3-point field goals, as the sixth-seeded Cobras beat the No. 11 Lions in a Class B first-round game at Syracuse.
Alex Guhin and Tina Hoag each had 10 points for Bishop Grimes (15-4).
Monica Makuch netted a season-high 19 points and Katie Pitkin added 10 points, nine rebounds and six assists for General Brown (11-8).
LITTLE FALLS 46, SOUTH LEWIS 24
Genevieve Schoff recorded 13 points and grabbed six rebounds as the third-seeded Mounties downed the No. 6 Falcons in a Class C-1 quarterfinal at Little Falls.
Hannah Becker chipped in with 11 points for Little Falls (15-4), which will play No. 2 Thousand Islands in Wednesdays semifinals at Onondaga Community College.
Rachel Newell paced South Lewis (9-9) with 11 points.
BOYS BASKETBALL
SOUTH LEWIS 79, HERKIMER 73
Matt Mooney accounted for 17 points and eight rebounds to help boost the No. 8 Falcons to a Class C-1 first-round victory over the No. 9 Magicians in Turin. South Lewis will play at top-seeded Beaver River on Tuesday.
Dylan Marolf generated 16 points and four steals, and Shawn Loomis supplied 12 points, seven rebounds and four blocked shots. Michael McLane tallied 10 points and seven rebounds, while Jason Martin finished with 10 points and six assists for South Lewis (10-9), which led 47-26 at halftime. Martin picked up four fouls in the first half before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Joe McKinney had 30 points, and Adrian Viscomi added 20 points for Herkimer (6-13).
WEEDSPORT 77, SANDY cREEK 57
Bradley Wasilenko led four players in double figures with 14 points as the No. 8 Warriors ousted the No. 9 Comets in a Class C-2 first-round game at Weedsport.
J.J. OConnor added 13 points for Weedsport (10-9). Tyler Swarthout led Sandy Creek (7-11) with 19 points, and Zach Halsey had 14 points.
HOCKEY
WEST GENESEE 6, IHC 0
Grainger Sasso and Ryan McDonald each scored one goal and assisted on another during the Wildcats Section 3 Division I first-round win over the Cavaliers (3-15-1) at Shove Park Recreation Center in Camillus.
Collin Kobuszewski added three assists for West Genesee (14-5-2).
