Charles David Hudson


ADAMS — Charles David Hudson, 72, of North Park Street, died Saturday evening, February 16, in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown. A funeral Mass will be Thursday 11 a.m. at Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams, with the Rev. Patrick Ratigan officiating and the Rev. Douglas Decker co-officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Ellisburg Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Saint Cecilia’s Church. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams.

Born February 26, 1940, in the town of Ellisburg, son of Charles D. and Evelyn Sullivan Hudson, he graduated from Union Academy of Belleville in 1958. He attended the University of Notre Dame from 1958-1961. During that time he was a member of the 1958 Freshman football team.

Mr. Hudson entered the New York State Police in June 1962 where he served with Troop K, Hawthorne, Troop B, Malone, and Troop D, Oneida, as a Uniform Trooper. He was promoted to BCI Investigator while in Troop D in 1970 and later became a senior BCI Investigator in 1978. He retired in 1986. Following his retirement, he worked at the Bonnie Castle Yacht Basin in Alexandria Bay from 1986 - 1996.

He married Jean Eggleton of Watertown, July 3, 1961 at Saint Paul’s Catholic Church, Black River, with the Rev. James Fik officiating. Following their marriage the couple lived in Adams all their married life. Mrs. Hudson died January 20, 2003.

He is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Charles (Denny) and Laurie, Adams; Gregory David and Connie, Adams; and one daughter and son in law, Carla Dunham Hudson and Brad Edwards, Adams; five grand daughters, Haley and Olivia Hudson, Abigail Hudson, Samantha and husband Jared Cook, Catherine Towles, two grandsons, Derek and Chad Edwards, two great grand daughters, Harper Edwards and Emma Moulton, two sisters, Katherine Palmer, Ellisburg; Carolyn Towner, Ellisburg, one sister in law, Jill DeLucia, Alexandria Bay, several nieces and nephews, and a friend, Susan Richmond, Adams Center.

Besides his wife, he is predeceased by a grandson David Towles, who died October 31, 2009, one brother, Richard D. Hudson and one sister Margaret Hamilton.

Mr. Hudson was a member of Saint Cecilia’s Church, Adams. Later he was a member of Sorin Society of the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame Club of Central New York and 1042 Loyalty Society of University of Notre Dame. He was an avid Notre Dame Fighting Irish fan!
