Virginia M. Clemons


COPENHAGEN — Virginia M. Clemons, 85, of Mechanic Street in Copenhagen, NY died, Saturday, February 16, 2013 at home under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice. She was born on October 10, 1927 in Copenhagen to Glenn and Mildred Coleman Hays. She graduated from Copenhagen High School.

She married Robert W. Clemons on October 31, 1945 in Louisville Kentucky. Mr. Clemons died on December 29, 2007. She was a member of the Copenhagen United Church. She has served over 60 years in the Copenhagen Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed knitting; crocheting, cooking, and she loved her cat “Duke.”

She is survived by four children; Clarence Clemons, Copenhagen; Bruce Clemons, Carthage; Barbara and her husband Leroy Porter, Copenhagen; Larry and his wife Mary Clemons, Adams Center. She is also survived by 9 Grandchildren, and several Great-Grandchildren.

She is predeceased by several brothers and sisters, a son Neil Clemons who died on September 9, 1959.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service Inc. Copenhagen from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at 11:00am at the Funeral Home in Copenhagen with the Reverend Samuel P. Lundy officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Copenhagen Fire Hall. Burial will take place in the Riverside Cemetery in the spring.
