Blackshear, GA- Mr. Alan Earl Al Kelsey, 58, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, at his residence in Blackshear, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Kelsey was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the United States Navy. While in the Navy he received the NATO Medal with Bronze Star, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Kosovo Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars. After retiring from the Navy he worked for 12 years with General Electric. He moved from Wichita, KS to Pierce County where he has lived for the last 8 years. He was Lead TD for GE at CSX rail yard in Waycross. He was of the Catholic faith.
He was a son of the late Earl Allen Kelsey.
Survivors include his wife, Cindi Washburn Kelsey; a daughter, Tamara Shaffer (fiancé Alan Baney) of Bellefonte, PA; his mother, June Boclair Kelsey of Hailesboro, NY; two sisters, Jacki & Timothy Reardon of Watertown, NY, and Sandy & Corky Bates of Gouverneur, NY; and a brother Jody Kelsey (partner Darren Favacho) of New York, NY; and several nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.
In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veteran, Attention: Gift Processing, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301; or ALSAC-St. Judes Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment in the St. James Catholic Cemetery in Gouverneur, NY.
Memorialization is by cremation.
