WATERTOWN / THERESA- Lewis R. Reynolds Sr. 81, of County Rt 136 Theresa, formerly of Mustard Rd, Watertown died Saturday February 16 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by family.

In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours. A private memorial gathering will be held at his family’s convenience.

Arrangements are with Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa.

Born June 9, 1931 in Theresa, NY the son of Myron and Estelle Waite Reynolds, he attended Theresa Schools. He worked at the Theresa milk plant in the 1950’s.

He married Catherine H. Brown May 18, 1951 and bought a farm in Theresa. The marriage ended in a separation in 1972.

Louie enjoyed horses from an early age and later owned many including harness racing horses that competed in Vernon Downs. He was a cattle dealer and attended auctioneer school in Mason City, Iowa and became an auctioneer for many years. He was well known locally for his ability to find old farm equipment, fix it up and resell it. He continued selling even after being bedridden, making use of his cell phone and his many contacts.

He is survived by four sons and their wives, William L. & Cindy Reynolds, Gerald E. & Deborah Reynolds, Lewis R. Jr & Audrey Reynolds, all of Theresa, Lawrence J. & M. Lynne Reynolds, Florida (formerly of Sackets Harbor); a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie S. & Thomas Scheer of Theresa; nine grandchildren and their families; Sarah Cox & Jack Natali, Eric Reynolds & Katja Herzog, Christopher & Harmonie Reynolds, Jeremy & Tina Reynolds, Kylie & Mike Jones, Jessica & Jason Sorice, Francis & Tiffany Reynolds, Catherine (Katie) Reynolds & Meaghan Reynolds and fifteen great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Lyle & Beverly Tousley; three sisters, Joyce Loomis, Evelyn Bartlett and Kay Bartlett; and many nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by a daughter, Sally A. Reynolds who died at five days old, a sister, Doris Loomis, and his longtime companion, Thelma L. Cheever.
