CANTON - Who will be the North Country Jr. Iron Chefs of 2013?

Will it be the Treble Chefs of J.W. Leary Junior High in Massena, or the Stone Cold Chefs from AA Kingston in Potsdam, or maybe Bacon Boys of St. Lawrence Central School?

Any of the 20 regional youth teams could bring the winning recipe and you won’t want to miss it.

Join The Health Initiative for an event featuring regional youth, local foods, creative cooking, and fun competition. This event is free for spectators.

North Country Jr. Iron Chef is a competition for teams of middle and/or high school students from Clinton, Essex, Franklin, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties. The teams are developing healthy recipes using a combination of local and USDA foods that could be prepared in a school cafeteria. On game day the teams will cook their recipe and present it to a panel of distinguished judges who will choose the winner.

Whether your interest is local foods, school lunch menus, cooking competitions or just plain fun, come cheer on the teams from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 9, The event will be held in St. Lawrence University’s Eben Holden Center in Canton.
