A Fort Drum man is under arrest for allegedly stealing a laptop computer from a room at the Best Western hotel on Washington Street.
The computer, valued at $1,300, was recovered before the arrest Wednesday of Arturo Lara III, 23. Police said it was found deposited in a Watertown Daily Times honor box outside the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
Mr. Lara is facing felony fourth-degree counts of grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, and awaits arraignment in City Court.
Police said the computer, owned by Isaac Rivera, Queens, was stolen early Sunday while he was hosting some people in his room at Best Western. After police questioned some people about the theft, the computer was discovered Monday in the newspaper dispenser box, police said.
