Mary Laughing left this world to join her parents Steven “Sam” Millett and Charlotte Garrow Millett on Wednesday evening February 20th, 2013 at the Champlain Valley Physician’s Hospital in Plattsburgh, NY following a short illness.

Mary was born August 20th, 1935 in Hogansburg. She attended area schools. Mary worked for the Salmon River School System for twenty one years as a cook for the Saint Regis Mohawk School cafeteria. She retired in 1997.

Mary was married to the late Arnold Jock Sr. on February 6th, 1954. He predeceased her in 1978. Together they had five children. Gary Jock, a son, predeceased his parents in 1969. Surviving children of Mary and Arnold are Steven and Leeann Jock of TsiSnaihne, Angela Jock of Akwesasne, Arnold Jock Jr. of Cornwall, Ontario and Cynthia Jock Vaughn of Akwesasne.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Steven and Charlotte Millett, a sister Pearl Connors, and three brothers, Francis Garrow, Ernest Millett and Steven Millett Jr.

Mary married John Neil Laughing on October of 1987 and resided with Neil at their Helena Road residence throughout their marriage. Mary worked side by side with Neil on the property which hosted many softball games at the ball park, “Frog Fest”, marriage celebrations on the river and gatherings like birthday parties or family reunions. They recently celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with family by their sides.

Mary, “Grandma” leaves behind her beloved grandchildren; Arnold D Jock of Akwesasne, Larry and Jessica Jock of Akwesasne, Sara Vaughn of Scotia, NY, Marlee Jock of Akwesasne, Rachel Vaughn of Hudson, NY, Nicole Vaughn of Scotia, NY and David Vaughn Jr. of Scotia, NY; and her step-children, Howard Laughing and Susan Johnson of Merryvale, Tennessee.

Mary also had the wonderful experience of knowing her great grandchildren, Kollin Stowell, Isaiah Cree, Coralee Jock, Sophia Jock and Jessica Pepoon.

Mary will be sadly missed by her siblings Gladys Yaddow of Fort Covington, Beverly Freda Barney and Jim White of Akwesasne, Allen “Sonny” and Tina Millett of Westville, NY, Leon and Evelyn Millet of Syracuse, NY, Clara and Levy Margosian of Massena, Charlotte and John DaRin of Atlanta, GA and Elaine and Frank Scott of Fort Jackson, NY. She will be fondly remembered by many, many nieces and nephews.

She will also be missed by her sister-in-laws Delinda & Don Comins of Akwesasne and Vanessa & Mike Lavare of Brasher Center.

The wake for Mary Laughing will beSunday, February 24th, 2013, 2:00-5:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at the Donaldson Funeral Home at 100 North Main in Massena, New York. Her funeral service on Monday, February 25th 11:00am at the funeral home with Reverend Shiela Nichols, officiating. Cremation will follow.
