Jay M. Weaver


LOWVILLE- Jay Melvin Weaver, 51, State Route 177, died Wednesday afternoon at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Utica, from complications from surgery.

His funeral service will be held Monday February 25th at 10:00 AM at the Croghan Mennonite Church with the ministry of the Crystal Light Mennonite Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Crystal Light Mennonite Church Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday at the Croghan Mennonite Church from 1:30-4 and 6-8 PM.

Jay was born in Ephrata PA March 7, 1961 to Melvin and Anna Hackert Weaver. He attended school in Denver, PA. He married Jane S. Hurst May 15, 1982. They moved to their dairy farm in West Lowville in September of 2002. He was a member of the Crystal Light Mennonite Church in New Bremen.

He is survived by his wife Jane, Lowville, his parents Melvin and Anna, Denver, PA., four children, Jonathan R., Japheth L, Joanna R, all of Lowville, and Janette(John) Zehr, Loma, Colorado. He has two grandchildren, Jaren L. and Jaylee B. Zehr.

He has two brothers and their wives, C. Glenn and Joyce, Leola, PA; Ray Delmar and Christine, Reinholds, PA., two sister and their husbands, Ann Louise and Earl Burkholder, Narvon, PA., and Joy Lynette and Eugene Zeiset, Ephrata, PA. He is also survived by his mother and father in law, Amos and Martha K. Hurst, Lititz, PA., aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is predeceased by a son, Joshua, L. in 1989.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crystal Light Mennonite Church Building Fund. Arrangements are with the Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan.
