Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Michael Mike Flavin, 902 Superior St., will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a spring or summer trip.
Mr. Flavin, son of the late Thomas M. and Thelma E. Pharoah Flavin, and Elfriede Erika Glasner, daughter of the late Karl and Johanna Herrmann Glasner, were married on March 8, 1963, in Munich City Hall, Munich, Germany, with Herr Schefthaler, registrar, officiating. Honor attendants were Emmeram D. and Johanna Phieler, Munich, brother-in-law and sister of the bride.
Mr. Flavin graduated in 1960 from Watertown High School. He served in the Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. Mr. Flavin worked for Frink Snow Plows, Clayton, Miller Brewery, Fulton, and as a civilian administrator at Leso-Leano Army Reserve Center, Watertown, retiring in 2002. He enjoys reading, writing science fiction novels, collecting VHS tapes and DVDs and spending time at his cottage on Griffins Bay. He is a member of American Legion Post 61.
Mrs. Flavin graduated from German Grammar School and completed a three-year apprenticeship as a weaver. She worked at Chesebrough-Ponds, Watertown, and Stature Electric Co., Watertown, from which she retired. Mrs. Flavin is a part-time teachers aide for the Watertown City School District. She is a vigorous housekeeper and yard worker, and enjoys trips to local casinos and visits with friends and family.
The couple has three children, Michael, Phoenixville, Pa., Erika Flavin, Allentown, Pa., and Angela Montgomery, Watertown; and four grandchildren.
