LOUISVILLE - Daniel OKeefe has been on the town council in Louisville for four years now and since hes been on the board the town has been trying to sell several vacants lots turned over to them by the New York Power Authority.
Recently in an effort to gain some more exposure for the property, Mr. OKeefe, who has taken on the task of selling the lots, listed them on e-Bay.
The listing has ended, Mr. OKeefe said, noting that unfortunately the lots did not sell. I did get one inquiry from the listing, which was promising, but nothing came out of it.
Mr. OKeefe said the town has two building lots for sale on state Route 131, as well as three lots located just off of the causeway on Wilson Hill.
Weve tried e-Bay, and weve tried a couple of other websites too, he said. Were just looking to get the word out there.
The two lots on state Route 131 are each 2.8 acres and appraised for $80,000 each. One of the lots on Wilson Hill is 4.8 acres and appraised for $43,000. Two smaller lots that are roughly two acres each are valued at $28,000 and $25,000. Each of the three lots are located just past the causeway.
Mr. OKeefe said that while each of the lots has been appraised, the town has no set price for them and is willing to entertain offers, although he said he isnt in a rush to sell them.
Im not all that much in a hurry to sell them, he said. We own what we own and once we sell it, its gone.
Given the current economic climate and real estate market, if the town could get a better price for the land down the road, Mr. OKeefe said he sees nothing wrong with holding onto the land until things turn around a bit more.
If this isnt a great market now and we can get a little bit more down the road, Im fine with that and think it would be more beneficial to the town in the long run, he said.
Anyone interested in purchasing any of the five lots or learning more about them is asked to contact the town clerks office at 769-0457.
