Lawrence E. Lafave, 90, of Hinckley, MN, formerly of Canton, died February 19, 2013 at Pine Medical Center in Sandstone, MN.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, February 26th at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church in Canton with Rev. Douglas Lucia as celebrant. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the spring.

Larry was born Feb. 24, 1922 in Tupper Lake, NY, the son of Lawrence E. and Laura (Lamay) Lafave. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII and a communicant of St. Mary’s. He drove bread truck, was a police officer w/ Canton Village Police for 10 yrs., a painter for and Cotter Painting and worked in the maintenance dept for Canton ATC for 10 yrs, where he learned his locksmith trade.

On Jan. 15, 1946, he married Theresa Carrow in Tupper Lake, NY. Theresa died in 2005.

Larry is survived by his two sons, Tom Lafave of Texas and Jerry Lafave of Hinkley, MN; one grandchild; three sisters, Barbard Clark, Joanne Cote’ and Joyce Patsio and four nieces.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a Catholic Charity of one’s choice.
