CANTON — St. Lawrence County is considering a modification of fees for indigent burials through the Department of Social Services that could save it $60,000 annually.

The Funeral Directors Association supports the changes in reimbursements.

Under the change, the county will pay for direct burials and cremations without services.

Supplementation by a non-legally responsible party would be allowed for some services.
