South Colton
Honored: Mary Long, South Colton, was named town of Colton 2013 Citizen of the Year, during Coltons Winterfest in January.
Ms. Long is a member of the Colton Fire Department and Rescue Squad, where she served as an officer, and the Racquette Valley Fish and Game Club, Amvets Post 262 and local ATV clubs. She is a member of the Winterfest Planning Committee, where she organizes the annual health fair.

Lowville
Places: Dawn Brown, Delta Junction, Alaska, formerly of Lowville, took fifth place in the Adult Six Dog Speed Class at the South Central Challenge Sled Race, held Feb. 3, in Alaska. Ms. Brown finished the 16 mile course in 48 minutes and 33 seconds.
Winner: Stanley Vantran, Lowville, won a raffle sponsored by the Lewis County Hospital Foundation on Feb. 3. Mr. Vantran received a week at a home in Salvo, N.C., during spring break. The raffle raised almost $2,500 to benefit the hospital foundation.
Saranac Lake
Winners: BlueSeed Studios has announced the winners of their annual juried art competition, Abstraction. Thirty-three regional artists entered 63 works of art for the competition, which will be exhibited through March 1 at the gallery. Next years event will open on Feb. 1, and the studio will accept entries until the last week of January.
