POTSDAM - Although the month February is winding to a close, Old Man Winter hasn’t packed his bags yet.

Residents in the region can expect between four to eight inches of snow starting late Tuesday night and going through Thursday afternoon, according to Accuweather.

The forecast calls for accumulation of one to two inches overnight Tuesday, a total of three to six inches throughout the day and overnight Wednesday and another inch or two early Thursday. Light snowfall may also occur overnight Thursday and throughout Friday afternoon.

Temperatures for the next two days are expected to reach highs in the upper 30s and lows in the upper 20s.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather advisory from 1 a.m. Wednesday until 7 p.m., with the heaviest snow expected to fall between 8 a.m. and noon Wednesday before mixing with rain in the afternoon and then switching back to snow Wednesday night.

The advisory from the National Weather Service warns the heavy wet snow could result in hazardous driving conditions, downed trees and power outages.
