AKWESASNE - The Akwesasne Mohawk Police Service (AMPS) is seeking the publics assistance in locating an Akwesasne man missing since Jan. 31.
Timothy John Benedict-Leaf, 19, who also goes by Timmy, was last seen on Cornwall Island. He is 54 tall and weighs about 125-135 pounds. An AMPS news release says he is of medium complexion, small-framed build, and has long brown hair, more than shoulder-length.
Benedict-Leafs grandmother, who only identified herself as Lena, said he was last seen wearing jeans, a t-shirt, a hooded sweatshirt and a bandanna and hat, much like he is seen wearing in the photo. She said that is his usual mode of dress.
Lena said her grandson had just moved into a new apartment on Cornwall Island. She said he was not a social person and shied away from large groups.
He goes to Cornwall a lot ... but hes never stayed away this long, Lena said on Monday afternoon.
She added that he travels from the island to the city by either foot or bike.
Anyone with information as to Benedict-Leafs whereabouts can call AMPS at (613)575-2340. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 613-575-2255, and may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2000, according to the release.
